Ecological Uniqueness
We believe the Texas Hill Country is a globally significant ecological region that:

• Contains endemic and endangered species, found nowhere else in Texas or the world.

• Holds sensitive archeological and cultural resources.

• Hosts pristine, spring-fed rivers and intact wildlife corridors.

• Those ecological features provide immense economic value to the state of Texas, which support freshwater flows to the Gulf, agricultural and ranching operations, a booming tourism economy, and US military operations. 

• Threat of Fragmentation

• We recognize that large-scale infrastructure projects, such as the proposed transmission line, would:

• Accelerate land fragmentation and unsustainable development.

• Disrupt rural livelihoods, tourism economies, watersheds, land values, and habitats.

• Permanently degrade the natural and cultural heritage of the region.

• Cause the accelerated loss of endangered species habitat, the spread of oak wilt, invasive species, and other ecological threats, and potentially cause erosion and degradation of water quality.

Unified and Respectful Collaboration

• We agree that we are stronger working together than independently in opposition to major projects, including the Howard-Solstice transmission line project. 

• We commit to respectful, collaborative engagement, grounded in facts and shared purpose.

• We agree to maintain open lines of communication, work from a shared strategy and approach, and seek to amplify a common message of protecting the Texas Hill Country.
